  • Abstract:

The objective of the work is to study academic exchanges from the Argentine Society of Criminology in Buenos Aires between 1933 and 1944 founded by the psychiatrist Osvaldo Loudet. It was representative of criminological positivism and its main mission was the dissemination of criminological ideas from specialized publications and participation in academic events with renowned personalities from Argentina, Latin America and Europe. We will stop at the First International Congress of Criminology held in Rome in 1938 and the First Latin American Congress of Criminology in Buenos Aires organized by the Society the same year. Finally, the Second Latin American Congress of Criminology held in Santiago de Chile in 1941. In them, the importance of biological sciences in conjunction with the legal sciences for the study of criminality was emphasized. As sources of inquiry we will study the Journal of Psychiatry, Criminology and Legal Medicine and Annals of the Argentine Society of Criminology from a qualitative discourse analysis.
