VALOR NUTRITIVO DO FENO TIFTON 85 (CYNODON SPP.)

  • Abstract:

Grasses of the genus Cynodon has, generally, high productivity and  nutritional value, and within this genus, the grasses of Tiftons group has been highlithed  . Hay production has shown great importance as a process of forage conservation due to  the ease and cost of execution. About the nutritional value, the advancement of age  leads to an increase in the structural carbohydrate and lignin, and reduction of  potentially digestible nutrients. This characteristic will negatively influence forage  intake and digestibility. The objective of this work is to determine the nutritional value  of dry Tifton 85 (Cynodon spp.) age at five different cutting ages (28, 42, 56, 70 and 84  days) through the mineral analysis of Tifton 85 hay. The increase in the cut age  influenced the nutrient content of Tifton 85, so that there was a reduction in the mineral  contents with the age of cut. The highest nutritional value occurred with Tifton 85 at 28  days of regrowth.
