  • Abstract:

The Botanical Garden of Recife (BGR) is located in a fragment of the Atlantic Forest, being a municipal public space that belongs to the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability of Recife. It has seven thematic gardens: cacti, bromeliads, orchids, palm trees, medicinal plants, sensory and tropical plants, as well as an amphitheater, library, leisure and contemplation space where environmental education activities are developed. In addition to these spaces, it houses a technical staff formed by researchers and scholarship holders who carry out research activities focused on botany, forest restoration and conservation of the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest. Thus, the objective of this experience report is to address a little of the activities developed as a technical cooperation scholarship holder, in its three aspects: environmental education, conservation and research, at BGR.
