  • Abstract:

Educate through neuroscience is a revolution that in the 21st century must to be in the schools. Science, health, psychology, education and physical exercise are conceived as separate areas of knowledge, but recent research on neuropsychological processes, brain functions, education and physical exercise, allow us to think about the need to relate them to discover more about learning. The aerobic exercise stimulates the synthesis of neurotrophic factors and neurotransmitters, and the activation of programs that modify the expression of many genes (epigenetics) and also changes the neuronal communication by acting on the space of exchange of information (synapses) which affects the connectivity producing significant improvements in attention, memory, and learning in general (Chaddock, Hillman et al., 2020). The first phase of of this study is to demonstrate that there is a positive correlation between the frequency which students practice physical exercise and the improvement in their capacities of attention, memory, and mental calculation. Physical exercise is evaluated using a survey that allows classifying students depending on how often they practice physical exercise (Low, Moderate, High). The results show that there is a correlation between the frequency of physical exercise practice and mental calculation capacity and attentional capacity (reaction time). In the second phase of the study, from the results obtained it was raised to create an intervention program (3 years). The program proposes a daily session that includes physical exercise and curriculum content. The intervention is intended to improve the cognitive and physical abilities. The improvement of these conditions could have a positive influence on academic performance.
