  • Abstract:

The consumption habits of people in the 21st century is a decisive factor regarding minimizing the impacts of the environmental crisis. Consumerism as well as the new types of consumers, the “green consumers”, since they tend to consume products, guarantee that the production chain will be sustainable. The study aimed to characterize and to identify the degree of environmental awareness according to the ECCB scale and to identify the degree of green purchase intention according to the GPI scale. To do that, 120 respondents were interviewed, representing approximately 3% of the active population within ESALQ. It was possible to notice a high degree of altruism, that the variables referring to perceived effectiveness were also highly classified, the respondents showed a high environmental concern, an above average environmental awareness and the GPI (green purchase intention) index was neutral.
